Thursday Morning Main NEWS (26/11/2020) 1) EndSARS: Nigerian govt reaches out to UK over parliament’s threat of sanction The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, said on Wednesday the Federal Government has reached out to its British counterpart over the threat by the country’s parliament to impose sanctions on Nigerian officials over their alleged roles in last month’s #EndSARS protests in the West African nation. Members of the British Parliament on Monday began debate on requests by concerned groups in Nigeria for the parliament to recommend sanctions on some government officials over alleged rights violations during the protest. Onyeama, who addressed State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, said the Nigerian government has reached out to its British counterpart to present its own side of the story on the matter. He, however, argued that lawmakers are not responsible for imposing sanctions on individuals or groups. The

EFCC Declares Founder of InksNation Wanted   November 11, 2020 0 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Omotade-Sparks Amos Sewanu of InksNation wanted for an alleged fraud worth N32 million while floating a digital currency called “Pinkoin”. The EFCC, in an advertorial published by The Nation newspaper on Wednesday, also accused Sewanu of obtaining money under false pretence and name-dropping. Sewanu has been claiming he would eradicate poverty in Nigeria in six months by paying every citizen N120,000 per month on the InksNation project that started in 2019. In a letter he wrote to EFCC, he stated that even newborn babies who were born every day could earn as much as N120,000 daily if his idea was allowed to stand. He went further in a  tweet  by the official account of InksNation to claim that if his mission failed in less than a year, he should be sentenced for life imprisonment. THE Coalition of North East Elders for Peace and Development, yesterday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack his service chiefs, accusing the military of deploying massive strength during the #EndSARS protests in parts of the country, thereby leaving the zone at the mercy of Boko Haram, and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists. According to the elders, scores of civilians were killed as a result of the strategic and operational blunders, which they argued, was avoidable, had greater tact been adopted.
